€5K Raised with Recycling & Nesta Support

Naomh Barróg GAA Club is proud to share the ongoing success of our Community Recycling Scheme, which has now raised over €5,000 to support our wider sustainability efforts and environmental action.

This initiative is powered by the Re-turn Deposit Return Scheme and made possible through strong local partnerships — especially with our neighbours at Nesta. Nesta’s team has gone above and beyond by using their regular storage taxi runs to collect large volumes of recyclable plastic bottles and cans from the club. These are then delivered directly to a Reverse Vending Machine at an official Re-turn facility, ensuring every item is processed efficiently and funds are returned to support the club’s green initiatives.

Pictured recently are Leo Gallagher (Naomh Barróg Recycling Team), John Alexander (Head of Sustainability), and Peter McGuinness (Nesta), capturing the power of collaboration in local climate action.

This partnership shows what can happen when community and business come together — every bottle and can really does make a difference.

Thank you to everyone involved, and a special thanks to Derek Liddy and Ger Donnelly at Nesta for their ongoing support.

Members and visitors are encouraged to drop off their plastic bottles and cans in our orange recycling bins at the bottom of the stairs at the back of the bar. Just enter through the kit doors, drop them off, and this will increase the funds Naomh Barróg can make and allocate towards sustaining our club and its facilities for members.
