A chara,
Welcome to the first club notes of 2024. This is a special year for our club as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, having been formed in 1974. There will be many events throughout the year to mark our Golden Jubilee and we will keep you as up to date as possible on these.
Here is the news from around the club this week:
50th Anniversary Gala Dinner:

Ladies Married v Singles:
𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙫 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙉𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙜 𝙣𝙖 𝙢𝘽𝙖𝙣
We will hold our inaugural Ladies’ Married vs Singles football match on Saturday 6th January 2024, throw in 3pm, in Naomh Barróg. We have chosen this date as it is “Nollaig na mBan”
The captains for this match are:
Married: Clare Burke 086-7849788
Singles: Kate Pepper 087-1608105
If you would like to play in this match, please contact the captain of the team you want to play for, if you’ve not done so already. It should be a great day and is the first event in our 50th Anniversary year.
The match is being played as a memorial for Luke Brodigan. Luke was highly respected in Naomh Barróg and by the wider GAA community in Dublin and beyond. It’s great to see his son, Vivian Brodigan, and daughter Denise Dunne, now along with their children, his grandchildren, still involved in the Club to the present day.
Full profile of Luke Brodigan can be found on our website

3 Barróg Players in Dublin Senior Hurling Panel:
We had 3 players in the Dublin Senior Hurling panel for their opening match of the season in the Walsh Cup v Westmeath. It was a big day for Seán Gallagher who made his senior debut. He was jined in the panel by Paddy Doyle and Joe Flanagan. Dublin won the match 2-31 v 1-12 so it was a great start to season for them.
Is mise,
Brian Whelan
